Soviet troops of the SWF were encircled near Kiev. CMG Belov received the order of advance to the Romny to provide support to the encircled troops. In order to prevent a breakthrough of the encirclement ring, the German HQ strengthened the outer perimeter with elements of 10MID and MID SS "Reich".
